Here a few quick tips for healthier frequent travelers. There can certainly be some great pros when traveling for business. It might be refreshing to get away from the daily office drama. On the other hand, some cons can get you into health trouble if you don't pay attention and address them early. Check the list below:

PROS
  • Living the high life at the company's expense
  • Get away from monotony of cubicle & desk life
  • No more office drama for a while
  • Snacking in fancy airport lounges and hotels
  • Experience new places & learn new cultures
  • Rewards & frequent travel programs

CONS
  • Strain on home & family life
  • Tension between partners
  • Less healthy food options, more processed snacks
  • Possible increase in alcohol consumption
  • Higher blood pressure due to increased travel stress
  • Weaker immune system due to poor air quality, germ exposure, no regular schedule
  • Chronic jet lag can speed up aging
  • Elevated radiation exposure due to high-altitude flights
 
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
  • If you only travel every few months, don't worry, it's not enough to negatively affect your health
  • Try to meditate, do yoga, stretch in your hotel room, workout daily, go for long walks
  • Pack your own healthy snack, double up on vitamin C
  • Find local Farmers Markets or search for health food stores
  • Try to do half-day fasts if no healthy food options are available, this may help with stomach discomfort
  • Move around in airports, don't just sit down, walk as much as you can
  • Get up & stretch in airports while waiting for your connecting flight
  • Walk to restaurants, events and shops, try not to use Uber, Lyft or a Taxi
  • Breath deep and consciously, pick a quiet corner and just focus on breathing
  • Hydrate, drink a gallon a day, it will keep the doctor away (preferably clean water)
  • Try not to turn on your TV in your hotel room. TVs keep you awake (blue light)
  • Keep a healthy mindset by verbal affirmations, dress well, keep a nice haircut

And at last, ENJOY YOUR TRAVELS. Keeping a positive attitude and seeing the beauty in traveling and exploring new places is key.
